THE CARTA AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING OF THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE


The Central Association of Russian Teachers of America has established the Award to recognize outstanding school or university level teachers in the field of Russian language and related subjects.


The Award is open to all CARTA members in good standing who have attended at least one CARTA Conference prior to their nomination.  The nominator should be also a CARTA member. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

​A packet of materials will be sent to the nominated teacher for completion by the nominee, the principal, a colleague, and a student.

THE NOMINEE SHOULD DEMONSTRATE

DEDICATION TO THE TEACHING OF RUSSIAN AND RELATED SUBJECTS

KNOWLEDGE OF CURRENT THEORY AND PRACTICE, AND IMPLEMENTATION IN THE CLASSROOM

EXCEPTIONAL QUALITIES AND ENTHUSIASM

LEADERSHIP IN THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE PROFESSION

The Awardee will be selected by the CARTA Board upon the review of submitted materials. The award will be presented at the 26th Annual CARTA Conference, April 5-7, 2024. 


The Award will consist of:

  • A certificate for the teacher

  • A letter for the supervisor

  • A $100.00 cash award

THE DEADLINE TO RECEIVE NOMINATIONS IS FEBRUARY 1, 2024

If you would like to nominate someone, please fill out and submit the following form to Professor Emeritus Harold Schefski, by email to Harold.Schefski@csulb.edu, or by snail mail to 40390 Via Malagas, Murrieta, CA 92562. The nomination should include a statement explaining why the nominee should be chosen.
